Want proof Astoria has arrived? We have (count'em) two burlesque shows tomorrow night. The sixth installment of Secret Burlesque at the Secret Theatre and Sci-Fi Burlesque at Hell Gate Social. Secret Burlesque is more variety/comedy driven, while Sci-Fi Burlesque is the latest twist on AM Preacher's Rockabilly Burlesque empire. Both will make for a memorable night and will likely cause a pasty shortage on Steinway.

Our favorite local paper-based publication, Edible Queens, is hosting a Winter Warm-up tasting event in LIC this Sunday that features the borough's best food and drink. Last we checked, the (required) RSVP list was nearly full, so be sure check ahead of time. Read more
