We're incredibly proud of our Astoria Homebrewers group for getting airtime on NY1 earlier this week. In case you missed it, catch the full segment here.

Don't forget, we're on Facebook and Twitter

After work, consider meeting some friends at 5 Napkin Burger's happy hour for $2 sliders and $4 drafts at the bar--by far the best deal you'll find at this newish Astoria hot spot.

Then, across the street, catch a classic movie screening from 1932 that could have been ripped from today's headlines. The film tells the story of a business tycoon who builds a junk bond and pyramid scheme empire that comes crashing down on him and his femme fatale. Watch the trailer

There's a photography exhibit and spoken word performances from some of Astoria's most prominent music and arts scenesters.

If you're looking for a chill, late night, pseudo-upscale spot for dancing where smoking policies are lax (to say the least) and hookahs come cheap, consider dipping into this rabbit hole.

Start building the perfect Super Bowl menu on Saturday with an afternoon trip to Best Yet--a legitimate, real life, human-sized supermarket. Stop in for free samples of Crabby Pete's famous Maryland-style (Astoria made) crabcakes. You'll find one of (if not THE) best beer selections in Western Queens, so load up. Totally worth bribing a friend with a car to take you.

Know how to salsa dance like the devil...or like to drink wine while watching other people who do? A local dance studio is having an after hours salsa + wine party this weekend.

Long before there was Sweet Afton, Winegasm, Sunswick, Sparrow, or Hell Gate Social, there was this bar. Come celebrate the granddaddy of cool kid bars as they turn seven years old on Saturday. Hopefully we won't have to sit on their knee and hear about the olden days when Astoria smoked and drank nothing but frappes.

In case Sunday's big game isn't enough testosterone for you, there's a UFC fight on Saturday night. There are several places to catch it, but we recommend going pro bono at the Donkey.

As you can imagine, virtually every bar in town will be hosting a Super Bowl party on Sunday--even some of the most unlikely. Here are our picks for the most interesting:

In case you're opting for a house party on Super Bowl Sunday, consider some of these local treats that are sure to make up for any embarrassing shenanigans that may occur throughout the evening:
