Neighbors Getting Salty Over Noise at BBQ Joint

WLA got a shout out in today's Daily News article about noise complaints around the new BBQ joint, The Strand. What do you think, WLA, is the flavor worth the burden?

There is probably much more to the issues of the strand than just noise, just reading some other local blogs they may not be fully respecting some basic laws and regulations.

Also this is the second negative article on the stand by a somewhat known newspaper. The village voice did an article earlier on them and said they were slapping the neighborhood in the face.

If you lived in back of Monte you would feel very different.  Too much loud  noise is noise, wherever it is.

Because strand is 10x larger and worse than Monte. When the weather improves the backyard will be 1000x worse than anything Monte can put together. Imagine Monte doing what in does in the backyard of 5 stores in the middle of over 250 plus apartments in 3 buildings. It's completely different.

Vallone got involved because the citizens are holding our elected officials accountable for invasions of our quality of life from the strand.

Monte, the  alleged restaurant  across street has been getting complaints for long time, nothing from Vallone. I wonder what made him respond to Strand?   Was it the reporter who did story calling him for a comment?   Monte goes full blast till early in morning, gets away with it.

Kevin I agree with you! What a shame that instead of being a friend to the community, the strand has to drive the community into full revolt. Wouldn't it be better for business to have the community as loyal customers and not have the public relations headaches not to mention every civil agency and elected offical looking at your every move? Stop this nonsense, close the yard. Can't we all get along?!

I live a block east of it so I walk past it constantly and it doesn't bother me, it doesn't seem louder than say Monte across the street when they have a crowd.  Of course the people living in earshot would have a different view, and should probably be compensated in some way - the place is certainly doing business like gangbusters so far, and at the cost of these folks' privacy to an extent.

However, who knows what it'll be like once the weather turns warm, they have a lot of outdoor seating...I could see it being awful.  A shame too because their short rib is killer and at a good price...

Ran...also you should stop calling it a BBQ joint....its a smokehouse - very different than BBQ - even in the daily news article the executive chef said so!

Ran...i have a suggestion...Strand Smokehouse should move right under your window...noise, smoking, drinking etc....than we will see if you still think there is place for the backyard!

Shout out to Councilman Vallone for being on top of this and calling the Strand a "nuisance"!
