joe- my Dad grew up here and his dad would give him $ when he was a kid (around 5!) to go to the bar and buy beer (in a small bucket!) and bring it home!! He did it every week.

hey thanks for the memorys ran astoria has a great historical society , people should look into it . i got into it back during the bicentennial . mrs vallone was my 6th grade teacher and we studied the history of ole astoria . if you think astoria has bars now u should see how it wasin the 30's and 40's just ask some of the old timers

Odd how they show pictures from the 80s as if it was the 30s? I'm pretty sure we had color photography by then :). 1982! Man, I feel old.
