Eww. Visual Proof of the Hipsterization of Astoria

Today, Gothamist published an article about Yelp's new(?) dynamic heat map that shows the mention of keywords from Yelp reviews overlaid as a heatmap. Not surprisingly, the most density of the word "hipster" hovers over Williamsburg, but Astoria has a noticeable concentration of hipster-mentions. Be afraid, fair Astorians...

Probably comes as no surprise to many of us that the word "hangover" also has a very high density in Astoria. Go team!

Funny, I don't see any hazy red on the corner of 30th ave. and Steinway, aka, Queens Comfort.  It seems like the whole of Williamsburg empties out and goes there for weekend brunch.  Mind you, this is the only hipster crowd I am willing to brave for the wonderful brunch menu QC offers.  Astoria still has a few years before it achieves full-on hipsterization.

I may be losing my mind, but the image above is Brooklyn, right? Astoria has just a little red smudginess by the looks of it.

There is also a slight spot for Sparrow.

The Astoria blips appear to be Kickshaw and Sweet Afton.
