New French hotspot, Bistro Les Minots
, set the stage last night for an elegant, WLA-hosted evening showcase of artist Gabriele Perici’s latest collection. The Astoria local debuted his Nudes
series, as guests mingled and enjoyed complimentary hors d'oeuvres and fine wine, while they took in each of his portraits.
Seasoned artist Gabriele Perici has been painting all his life and moved to Italy when he was a young boy, allowing him to pursue his passion even further. Now living and painting right in the neighborhood, he is thrilled to share his work with members of the community.
While his previous collections have drawn inspiration from puppets, circus performers and whimsy, Perici’s recent series celebrates the beautiful female form in all its glory. The smooth, supple lines of his silhouettes capture the strong, yet vulnerable, nature of his feminine muses. Their tilted heads are inquisitive and sensual at the same time, naturally enticing the viewer in.
A strong Italian influence was apparent in each and every piece, as the rich crimsons and golden hues evoke the warmth of a Tuscan sunset. Impeccable attention to detail is evident, yet while creating this collection, Perici decided to forgo brushes all together. Instead, he used a spatula knife to precisely apply the acrylic onto his canvases.
His work is passionate, warm and inviting, a celebration of life and beauty, adding depth and vivacity to Bistro Les Minots’
cozy, brick-lined back room. The Nudes
series will remain on display until December 1st, so come out to enjoy fabulous French fare and take in this captivating collection from Gabriele Perici.
