The popular Vermont ski resort, Sugarbush, is attempting to open a free, temporary ski slope in Astoria Park this winter. Community Board 1 approved the plan this week, but the group must still navigate the City red tape for it to become a reality.

According to, the proposed artificial slope will follow the natural incline of the park, be open all week, and feature lessons for children on Saturdays and Sundays.

For anyone who didn't see this Peter Vallone said that this will not be happening at this time due to the super storm.

Will they make slopes, or keep it almost flat as it is?    What fun is skiing 10 feet, or at a low level slant?

AWESOME!!! giving the kids a chance to get out in the winter and learn something that can create physical balance and technique is all good instead of sitting home and mushing their brain with video games and sitting on a computer for hours.
