Beware Of Con Edison Impostors
Hey Astorians,
I just got some suspicious visitors at my apartment. Two men claimed to be ConEd workers, asking if I had a copy of my electric bill from the last six months.
As soon as they left I got the NY Tip line on the phone and told them what happened.
If you get a visit from someone claiming to be from ConEd, please beware. DO NOT give them anything! Also if you get one of these visitors report it right away.…

Elderly Man Struck and Killed in Hit and (Attempted) Run
An 89-year-old man whose name has not been released was struck and killed overnight while crossing 21st Avenue at the intersection of 31st Street.
According to a report in the Daily News, the man was hit within the crosswalk, however, did not have a "Walk" sign. Several people witnessed the incident and immediately called 911.

Fresh Direct Officially Moving Out of Queens

We wrote last month about NJ trying to steal Fresh Direct from LIC using $100 million in tax breaks. Well, as of Monday night, NJ didn't win, but the Bronx did. The sweetheart deal is reportedly worth $120 million in tax breaks and other incentives that will keep 2,000 jobs in New York, add 1,000 more, and bring $255 million in revenue.
It's a shame…

What's happening today on 30th Ave?
There's an NYPD squad car parked in front of Ovelia with three cops standing around on the corner and another squad car parked in front of Athens Cafe with two officers standing on that corner. I've never seen this many cops on 30th at night, let alone on a quiet Saturday at noon.
There was a loud fight in front of Ovelia last night (no details, just heard the yelling echo down the street.) Is that related?

Tonite, the noise comes
I live on 33rd avenue, between Crescent and 29th. It's Friday, which means tonight and tomorrow, no one can sleep till after 4 AM. A place calling self restaurant in order to get liquor license opened on Broadway over year ago. Instead it's a Bosnian nightclub, which plays extremely--I mean crazy loud music--till sometimes 5AM.
I don't mean music a bar or normal club plays, I am talking window ratting, ear drum bursting for anyone close, music. They also seem to actually turn…
