Mandy: I'm glad you asked! I was just about to post our Saturday schedule. Should be up here in just a few minutes.

Are you guys going to be playing any of the international friendly or World Cup games on Saturday?

The highlight for me last night was when some Greek kid was singing and Shane just went up to the stage and started messing with the sound board. His buddies didn't know who he was (probably just thought he was some toothless bum) and called him "malakka". I thought they were gonna jump him. Then Shane picked up a tambourine and sang the backing vocals to "Don't Worry Be Happy" with the kid. Funny stuff.

I saw Shane MacGowan in there Tue. night. He was chillin' like a villain, then he got up and did a few songs with some of the local talent (Boomer, Wiggins, Finley among them). Sunday he was performing at Carnegie Hall with Bono, Lou Reed, Courtney Love (among others), then two nights later he's in the Quays jamming with some of Astoria's finest musicians. Only in the Quays.

I was in there last Saturday evening and there were two young Russian women making out. That's my kind of saloon!

Great news: we're going to show the Argentina v. Brazil game on Monday night! It's airing on tape delay at 8pm. (Our thanks to Ana for reminding us.)

We've got the Astoria Music & Arts "Manic Monday" show at the same time, including Anthony Lanni on guitar and Michael Vitali on percussion, playing traditional Brazilian and Latin jazz tunes in the Samba, Bossa Nova, Baiao, and Bolero styles.

Come celebrate 187 years of Brazilian Independence with us!

I believe Gerald's next show is Monday, September 14th. (Waiting on confirmation of that before the event goes up officially.)

It'll be good to have him--and his supersonicbionic knee--performing again.

When's Gerald Donnelly playing next? I wanna see how the Ayatollah of Rock'n'Rollah performs with the new knee.

Do we look fat in this picture?

Anyone who's been checking us out on WLA in the past half hour will have seen me decide, redecide, and reredecide on a profile picture. It's hard being a bar; we have no face to feature, no pretty smile, no sparkling eyes.

I'd thought just our sign would work: THE QUAYS IRISH PUB! But it ends up so small you can't read it.

So now, after ten attempts, we're back to a corner picture of the bar. It's slightly prettied up compared to the last shot. (We got highlights, wore clothes that flattered o… Continue
