The biggest Astoria Music & Arts event of the YEAR is next month.
Saturday, July 24th, aka "the REAL 4th of July," is a day that will live in infamy. Over 30 bands on 3 different stages are taking over Astoria Park and remaking it into a Rock Wonde…
Kyria, I just saw your post now because, well, Im lame. I just wanted to show you Selvi was featured in Timeout NY as being one of NYCs top stylists. They listed her and and Katherine who does color there, and is a color genius.

I have been going to Kathleen at IMAGINATION (Corner of Crescent & Newtown) for 15 years - zero complaints.
Mike, the owner of IMAGINATION is also excellent.
My very picky tween girls go there now. Love it.
I go to Marina at her salon on 31st Ave at 45 St. She's got very reasonable priced ($25 for my long, thick hair) and does a great job. My hair is curly/wavy and I get it cut to encourage it to curl while reducing the wait. I'm finicky about my hair.…
I have been going to SPAce on Ditmars and 29th. I see Adela and have been going to her for over 3-4 years. I love her. I do only color with her, but there is this girl there Nicole and people go NUTS over her. Stella is also a great stylist I've hea…
I really like Ilma from Brazilian Beauty Saloon. She has done a great job in my hair for over 3 years now. They just changed the name of the place and I don't remember it now, but the address is 42-11 28th Avenue, by 42nd street. She charges $25 and…
I also go to Lauren at Gigi's. She's absolutely fantastic. She takes the time to talk to you first and go over your thoughts and ideas for your hair, and then offers her input. She really listens, which is so rare! I've never gotten a bad haircut fr…
Thanks for the tip on Bakeway. I'm here now for the first time. Table space was a little hard to come by, but the coffee's good, the wifi is strong and the staff is friendly. And yes, the red velvet cupcakes are really good.
I hear Starlight Karaoke is great and there is a new spot opened on Steinway between Broadway and 34th Ave (next to the new Dunkin Donuts).
Good luck!!
I suggest Hair Shapers on Broadway between 33rd and 34th. Great haircuts, friendly staff, really nice atmosphere and great coffee! Ask for Linda or Dina.
I have lived three different places in Astoria and have had two different gyms and four different pharmacies.
I know 30th Ave, Broadway, Steinway, 34th and 35th like the back of my hand. My ex lived on Astoria Blvd, so I know that area pretty well, too. Hell, I even spent some time in the Ravenswood apartments.
Now I'm moving to Ditmars so I guess Astoria Park will replace the Sculpture Park, The Rock will replace Evolution Gym, and Fatty's will replace Cup.
The ATM locations might change, but Astoria stays the same for me.
