Help! 30 seconds of your time can make an Astorian's dream come true...

I have been posting (about food and restaurants) on WLA for a couple years, and it remains what I believe to be one of the best sites in the whole city.  It certainly has led to many great opportunities for me. As a food writer and photographer, I was recently selected by Urbanspoon as a finalist to be a guest blogger in Hawaii (an all-expenses paid first class island-hopping trip to…See More

I grew up in a home that was structured around mealtime. At each meal, we would discuss where and what we would enjoy as our next meal. Dinner was the center of what I believe to be our success as a family. We cooked together, sat down to together nightly, and cherished those times to learn more about one another and just laugh. From a young age, I entered Pillsbury bake-offs with my mom, and competed with my dishes in 4-H, as well. I remember family vacations by the meals we had, because it was at the dining table that we grew as a family and laughed the most. I have been published in Better Homes & Gardens, as well as some Midwestern publications. It is my hope, as my blog continues, to publish a collection of essays about my incredible, hilarious, and poignant journey from a farm town in Indiana to the capital of the universe, New York City.

Hey Bradley,

I joined WLA about a year ago or so and started to notice your post about places to eat. I tell you, your post and the weekender really make WLA an essential for any Astorian. Anyway, first time writer longer reader and I have a question. Have you checked out Marshall's on Broadyway? I am thinking about hitting it up tonight with my girlfriend and wondered if you had been and you had any recommendations? I have been reading your blog and took all its recommendations and created a google map to see if I can make it through all the places you have been and then some. My girlfriend and I seem to go to the same places all the time in Astoria so you and this map will help. Keep up the good work!

Marshall... yes that really is my name and yes I am asking your opinion on a restaurant with the same name.

ps... Give Michael Angelo's III a try if you haven't. Its two doors down from Ornella's and if one of my favorite places. Get the house special as a meal and I think you will like it.

I actually just saw your thing about Ornella and checked out the vegetarian menu and it looks really good!
Glad I could make you smile :)
Hope you're having a great day too!

Hi,
So we've never met, but I read your food blogs at times. They don't always work for me as I am a vegetarian-ie. Mombar-although it sounds quite interesting and i'd try it if i DID eat meat
Today I looked at your Cinco de Mayo 1 and figured, since it's near my apt., I'd try La Cocina.
As I was waiting for my food, I asked the waitress how long they'd been open. She told me 2 months. How did you find it already in 2 months???
Well, either way, I'm glad you did b/c I am sittin here now enjoying my Huarache (sans meat of course) and the very prettily put together chips w guac.
SO thanks! And keep the info coming!!!
