Yes! I'm from the Lower East Side, but the last place I lived before coming to Astoria was Inwood, just a little north of your hood. Hudson Heights proper though is arguably much prettier, like down by the 181st stop. In Inwood, you have to stay west of Broadway if you don't want to get shot, to which, really, who does?!
