I was just reading the odeal that Heather went through that she described in her July 6 post. Like Cara, I am a member of the Astoria Center Israel, and I am very actively involved with a number of community groups including our local 114th Police Precinct - If anyone has experiencd any sort of anti-semitic acts or behavior please feel free to contact me either here or my personal email which is mjb1040@aol.com and I make sure to pass along the information to police community affairs officers.

As part of the "Establishment" Jewish Community (meaning not so wandering - I have been living here all of my 56 years and 2 generations before me) I am extremely interested in anything that preserve the continuity of a Jewish presence in this community - so I am very interested in what you are doing and could possibly offer you a venue for some of your events if you are interested

Spaces are still available for the hottest minyan in town that is not on a bus...with only men...wearing black suits....and beards......and are surprisingly young and American to have accents from the shtetl! In case you forgot the next Wandering Jews of Astoria Shabbat Minyan/Vegetarian Pot Luck Dinner is tomorrow night at Cassi and my place, so if you want to come simply email me or Cassi and we will send you the details. Jkail1@yahoo.com or Cassi.Kail@gmail.com. Plenty of hours until candle lighting!

Wow, Heather. I'm stunned that this sort of thing is happening in Astoria, and I am so sorry you've had to live that way-- even for a little while. I really hope you don't have any more encounters with these hateful people. But I am glad that you felt comfortable posting your situation to this community, and I look forward to meeting you soon-- for a shabbat shalom.
