Thanks to everyone who helped make last night's Purim party our best attended (and most fun) event yet!

Looking Ahead to Passover
Plans are underway for a Passover seder (tentatively on the second night of Passover -- Saturday, 4/7).

But we need your feedback about schedule, location, and dietary restrictions! Please take 2 minutes to fill out this survey by Sunday, March 11!

Jennifer, there's no official end-time, but I'd imagine we'll probably stay pretty late -- long past the schpiel and talent show.

Comment by Jennifer on March 2, 2012 at 1:22pm

How late do you think you folks are going to be there? I'm in Bklyn til after seven.

Chag Purim!

Wandering Jews of Astoria’s Purim party is this Saturday. It will take place at the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden (29-19 24th Ave., Astoria). The party starts at 6:32 p.m., and the Purim schpiel and talent showcase begin at 7:30. Hamentaschen will be served, and alcohol will be available for purchase. Costumes are encouraged!

  • We’re looking for actors for the Purim schpiel (funny play) and performers for the talent showcase (really, anything goes). If you want to sign up for either or both, please e-mail Adena: AdenaRDershowitz@gmail.com.
  • The hamentaschen baking will take place at Adena’s (in Astoria) on Saturday at 1. To sign up or to get the address, please e-mail Melinda: MelCoop@gmail.com.

We will not be having an event on Purim; for some places where you can go to hear the megillah, please click here.

Mazel Tov

Mazel tov to Stu and Alissa Akerman on the birth of their daughter, Hailey Reese! We hope she’ll be able to say the Four Questions at WJOA’s Passover seder in 2014.

Shabbat Shalom from Utica! I come bearing news of a great event in NYC benefiting Holocaust survivors.

My cousin let me know about this great event/fundraiser that is geared towards us younger-ish Jews and benefits holocaust survivors.  All of the details are below. Thank you for your time.

Hi there. iVolunteer (www.ivolunteerny.com) is hosting their annual
gala at the Angel Orensanz Foundation on Thursday, January 26, 7:30
pm, to raise money for their support and home visitation program of
Holocaust survivors throughout the country. The event link is:
http://www.ivolunteerny.com/gala-event-2012.

The event will be attended by young New Yorkers with sponsors already
consisting of Google, Axel, Metro-Spaces, DesiHits!, Affinity
Commercial, DJ Skee of Sirius Radio, JEMB Realty, Hiltzik Strategies,
and others. There will be a silent auction and many members of the
young and trendy Jewish community will be attending one of the first
events of its kind for 2012.
