Michael,
Thanks for the good info on Irish corned beef. Thought it was a traditional Irish food from Ireland.

Corned beef was not to feed drunk American's on St. Patrick's Day. Irish Americans ate corned beef because it was a cheaper cut of beef than bacon was (which is what they would have had for St. Patrick's Day or other occasions back home). Which they found from their Jewish neighbors on the LES (home to both classes of people during the 1st serious wave of American Immigration). And corned beef is technically a brisket. Sort of the bottom front part of the cow. Corned refers to the way the beef is cured. As for the Irish corned beef, that really doesn't exist.

Corned beef is not Irish? Are you sure? I didn't know that. Corned beef and cabbage isn't Irish? I'll look into that.

Jewish corned beef is just as good...and you're in NYC, so it's all around us :-)

Hey everyone, new to the group. Is the scheduled meeting up thing working out? Also maybe an organized beer-b-q on a nice day could be awesome.
