Hi everyone!  I'm happy that another meetup is planned. I have something booked for next Wednesday, but hopefully I can join in for the next knitfest.

Leah -- I haven't found a place to buy yarn in Astoria, but I've biked to Michaels in Woodside on occasion if I don't need something uber-special.  Mostly I buy online but I'd love to find a good and easily accessible yarn shop to call on regularly.

See you all then! Hopefully meet you in the future, Melanie!

Thanks Elisabeth for the info:) Bummer that I tutor Wednesday evenings.. Hopefully I will be able to join the next meeting! How many different colors of yarn would you reccomend for a beginner?

I can do Wed. @ 7. That's great. Also am happy to help you, beginners. For starting out I recommend size 8 or 9 needles (straight or circular) and a worsted weight yarn in a color that's on the light or bright scale because it's easier to see what you are doing.

I like mosaic! They have nice couches and are usually not too crowded. Do you guys want to set sneer up for Wednesday around 7?

Hi guys! Elisabeth, thanks for the info :). I can meet up Wednesday or Thursday next week. I actually am trying to order some yarn today but I doubt that will come in on time. haha. I guess I'll just go to a yarn shop in the meantime. Are there any in Astoria you guys know of? Also, I saw that you guys occasionaly meet at Mosaic---that's more convenient for me then the Healthy kitchen Astoria.

Hi! I would love to meet up but don't think I can do Monday - does Wednesday work for everyone?
Melanie - we will be happy to show you! I have a bunch of extra needles and yarn, I can bring some for you to practice on

Hi,

I'm new to this group as well.. I have no knitting experience whatsoever, but have always wanted to learn. Will someone be able to guide me whenever the next meeting takes place? I am available on Monday next week:)

Oh... and any advice on what kind of knitting supplies to purchase? I haven't the slightest clue...

Thanks:)

Hi Leah. No particular organization. If someone feels like a knit session, they shout it out and then a consensus is reached on the where's and when's. I am busy this week, but would be up for a day next week. Monday or Wednesday maybe? Thanks Monica, sounds great!
