Comment by Laura D on February 28, 2013 at 3:58pm Hi everyone! I'm happy that another meetup is planned. I have something booked for next Wednesday, but hopefully I can join in for the next knitfest.
Leah -- I haven't found a place to buy yarn in Astoria, but I've biked to Michaels in Woodside on occasion if I don't need something uber-special. Mostly I buy online but I'd love to find a good and easily accessible yarn shop to call on regularly.

Comment by Elisabeth P on February 28, 2013 at 12:45pm I can do Wed. @ 7. That's great. Also am happy to help you, beginners. For starting out I recommend size 8 or 9 needles (straight or circular) and a worsted weight yarn in a color that's on the light or bright scale because it's easier to see what you are doing.
Comment by Leah Rose Damour on February 28, 2013 at 8:36am Yes for me! 7pm is great.
Comment by Leah Rose Damour on February 27, 2013 at 9:25am Hi guys! Elisabeth, thanks for the info :). I can meet up Wednesday or Thursday next week. I actually am trying to order some yarn today but I doubt that will come in on time. haha. I guess I'll just go to a yarn shop in the meantime. Are there any in Astoria you guys know of? Also, I saw that you guys occasionaly meet at Mosaic---that's more convenient for me then the Healthy kitchen Astoria.
Comment by Melanie Punger on February 26, 2013 at 9:00pm Hi,
I'm new to this group as well.. I have no knitting experience whatsoever, but have always wanted to learn. Will someone be able to guide me whenever the next meeting takes place? I am available on Monday next week:)
Oh... and any advice on what kind of knitting supplies to purchase? I haven't the slightest clue...
Thanks:)
Comment by Elisabeth P on February 26, 2013 at 8:34pm Hi Leah. No particular organization. If someone feels like a knit session, they shout it out and then a consensus is reached on the where's and when's. I am busy this week, but would be up for a day next week. Monday or Wednesday maybe? Thanks Monica, sounds great!
