Green Film Screening this Thursday @ Astoria Library

Dear movie lovers,

I wanted to let you know about a screening this Thursday for the green-themed film A Man Named Pearl, hosted by Queens Library and Rural Route Films.

Time: July 26, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm

Location: Queens Library (Astoria)

The screening will be followed by Q and A & an after-party next door @ Hell Gate Social.

More info about the film: Dir. Scott Galloway & Brent Pierson. 78min. Documentary.

When Pearl Fryar and his wife sought to buy a house in an all-white neighborhood of Bishopville, South Carolina, they were dissuaded with the explanation that “Black people don’t keep up their yards.” Remarkably, instead of fueling bitterness and anger, this comment motivated Pearl to win Bishopville’s “Yard of the Month” award and, eventually, to transform his ordinary suburban yard into an internationally-acclaimed horticultural wonderland. The topiary garden’s centerpiece emblazons both its message and Pearl’s own philosophy: “Love, Peace, and Goodwill.”

 Hope to see you there!

Need a place to watch movies? My studio would be a really nice spot for a film night or two- or an ongoing series... hint hint. Somebody let me know if you want a gathering and it could happen Green Space.

Hey,what's up? I'm new to this group and I am not sure how things work. Does anybody ever get together to see a movie? Not just new releases but also revivals of classic films. They do that sometimes at Kaufman-Astoria but at my favorite place Film Forum in Manhattan. I hope to hear from you guys, talk to ya later
