For those who are interested in starting a Food Not Bombs chapter in or around Astoria.

Basically...

For those who don't know, Food Not Bombs is a radical leftist organization based around the food justice movement. The basic principle it operates on is simple: all people have a right to healthy food. Food is a necessity. There are so many starving people, but so much food is thrown out every day in grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, etc. Food Not Bombs gets food donations from local establishments, cooks it and serves it weekly. Dumpster-diving is another FNB-approved way to find recoverable, good food that would otherwise go to waste.

Food Not Bombs also provides food to those at protests and demonstrations -- hence, the "Not Bombs" part. FNB has a history of supporting progressive social and political movements.

Food Not Bombs serves vegetarian meals only.

In any case, starting an org such as this would be very, very complicated and probably take up a lot of money which I don't have.
