Hi Pauline have you checked the rents up here on this website? What range are you looking to spend? Also Craig's List has had some good listings for Astoria. Good luck to you!

hello, just moved to LIC/Astoria and started a website: www.mycheaplist.com I am trying to put together lists of the cheapest everything (laundry, dry cleaners, gyms etc but also best everything for the best possible price, all in AStoria, then I'll tackle LIC). Please send your comments and I"ll consider them onto the site. Thanks Ryan for creating this group.

Sharing along a great inexpensive place to eat a great meal. Some folks I'm sure have eaten here however for those who have yet to experience. Check out Chicken Festival on Ditmars Blvd just down from the corner of Ditmars and 31st. Recently had a half chicken, rice, beans, salad for $6.75. Very generous portions. Had appetizers, sodas, and two meals for under $23.00. Where have you eaten a great meal lately outside of the typical fast food joints that pleasantly surprised you with the food and pricing??

I love this group name!  ;)  I earn my 'cheapness' status by using Astoria Park as my gym.  I probably save ~$500 a year, plus it's nice to watch the seasons changing!

I've found a great place to have clothing dry cleaned (when there's no other way of cleaning it). Ditmars Cleaners located at 21-79 Steinway Street, Astoria NY (718-204-2795) is very, very reasonable.  A little "hole in the wall", right next to Wah Fung Chinese take out. I recently brought in 2 skirts and a dress. It was $4 per skirt and $8 for the dress. I've used other cleaners in the area. There prices were at least double what Ditmars Cleaners charges and their cleaning was just the same.
