Every chosen dinner date, all people who RSVP will be assigned a dish based on a theme, such as Ethiopian Food, Indian Food, Chinese Food, etc. Each person will be e-mailed a receipe for the dish they're expected to bring. On the day of the event, the group will meet and combine dishes to create a fantastic feast! Host houses will rotate from person to person, whoever is willing to provide a setting. We can meet bimonthly, monthly, weekly, or randomly, whatever you guys think is easiest.

How about we meet at the Bel Aire Diner at 21st and Broadway for an organizational meeting?  Maybe on a Saturday or Sunday?  I just cooked chicken sausage with a wine and balsamic vinaigrette plus broccoli and served it over shells.

OK, cool.  If you're interested, just send me a private message and then I'll coordinate with everyone to find a place / schedule this.

Hey guys, I think the best thing to do is maybe meet at a diner to plan it out.  This way we can meet everyone who's interested in person and work out details and stuff.  What does everyone think of that suggestion?  Lemme know and I can suggest a place / we can get this started.

Yes - that's definitely the best way to do it. Who wants to be in charge ?
I figure we have to decide the following things first :

Theme, Recipes, Date, Location - then create the event

Once people agree to attend, we assign the recipes randomly.

What do you guys think ?

I'm down for either option- maybe we can pick a theme and have everyone discuss their meal plans prior? That may help narrow down on repeat dishes and give everyone a little idea of what they are in for.

I've regularly hosted dinners for friends at my place in Astoria and I usually make all the food myself.  Potluck is fun and cheaper, but you can end up with a really eclectic mix of dishes in terms of both style and quality depending on the inclinations and abilities of those you invite.  In any case, I'd definitely be up for sharing some cooking.  I make my own pasta sauce using red peppers an sausage from scratch, but I can also do something like a biryani or a casserole it just depends on what folks are looking for.  Just let me know what you guys are thinking and we can coordinate.
