Hi Phil, I am looking to play as much as possible.... also ~3.0. Early mornings and week-ends anytime is best --let me know if that works for you.

Hey everyone.  I am new to the group.  I am looking to play tennis daily if possible.  I have a pass to the Astoria courts and rank around a 3 or so depending on the day :)

The courts are at Astoria Park South and about 21st Street. To purchase a permit or single play ticket, see the Park's website (http://www.nycgovparks.org/sub_permits_and_applications/tennis_perm...). But $200 is outrageous and there are only 2 months left in the season. If you are free on weekdays and interested in trying to sneak onto the courts, let me know. I have 2 rackets.

I just moved to Astoria and I see from the wall posts that a permit may not be needed for the courts in the park? If so, when is the best time to go to avoid being chased off? I haven't picked up a racket in years, but looking to get back into it. I enjoy just hitting around, but I especially like doubles.

Looking to hit mornings, evenings or weekends. Quite flexible for the next three weeks. I am a 3.0.

In general they don't bother you when the courts aren't busy. But if you go when there are people standing in line waiting for a court, there is no way you'll be able to get one without a permit. Busy times are typically after work on weekdays and everyday on the weekends when the weather is nice.
