If anyone is interested in going to the Great South Bay beer dinner Saturday night at Platte Deutshe in Franklin Square, let me know. I am taking the LIRR and looking for another craft fan to tag along. My gf is out of town and don't wanna go solo. Not looking to hook up here, just have a good time. Cheers

Untappd has taken over my life, such a great app! I'm 'smaksimo' on there.

OK People, if you haven't already check out the app "untappd". They also have a web based version at untappd.com I haven't loaded any beers up to it yet, but will be adding one or two tonight.

Hey y'all, it's been a while!

Five Napkin Burger is back to doing its beer pairing dinner series in our very own Astoria location on 35th Ave, right across from the Museum of the Moving Image. On October 6th they're hosting Kelso of Brooklyn, whose brewers will be bringing in some very special barrel aged beers and will talk us through a special paring menu of dishes made just for this event.

The dinner is only $60, which is wildly cheap for seven (7!) beers with unlimited appetizers, an entree and desert. Tickets are available at http://www.5napkinburger.eventbrite.com/. If you use the discount code "whyleaveastoria" you'll get an extra half hour of beer, appetizers and chat with the brewers before the event starts.

Check out the interview Ran did with Kelly this week:

Thanks, guys! Kathleen, I'd love to help. Are you thinking of organizing this in time for craft beer week? We'd have to pull it together for either this or next weekends? Unfortunately both Saturdays I have family stuff that I can't get out of but I'll certainly lend a hand where possible. Let me know.

I just called MexiQ to confirm the dates and the Founders pairing is on.  They are working on the menu but was not able to pin them down on the beer selections.  I just hope their new beer buyer is as good as the last one they had.

@Clare, pretty sure I read somewhere that Five Napkin postponed their beer event b/c of low ticket sales.

Hey Clare. I could be wrong but I don't think there are any. I would talk more to Amy Litt (she's definitely a member of this group) because she works with the NY Craft Beer Week team. She'll be the best source of information.

Ryan Crook (from Brewstoria, Astoria Homebrewers) and I have been talking about doing our own Astoria Craft Beer Crawl. Interested in helping? Let me know! :)
