Saturday April 22, 2017 6pm - 9:30pm Catholic Professionals Maronite Catholic Mass & Social

Special note: This Saturday Maronite Catholic mass satisfies Sunday Mass obligation under the Latin\Roman Catholic rite as the Maronite Catholic rite is in communion with the Pope.

Join us for a Maronite Catholic Mass on Saturday April 22nd at the Chapel at Regis High School on the Upper East Side. Fr. Dany will give a special introduction to the Maronite Catholic Rite at 6pm, and mass will begin at 6:30pm. The mass (which fulfills Sunday Mass obligation under the Roman Catholic rite) will be in English with several parts in Syriac. Also, parts of the mass and the hymns are in Arabic, Lebanese, and Greek. Full event details, click here:

The Maronite Catholic rite is one of the oldest in the Catholic Church. It was based on Antioch liturgy, and it hardly changed in over 1,600 years. Until a couple of centuries ago, Syriac\Aramaic was used for the entire mass. Today, the liturgy is celebrated in several languages around the world, but the main parts of the liturgy such as the consecration are still sung in the very language Jesus and the Apostles spoke.

After mass (around 7:30pm), meet the group outside on E84th Street in the front of the Chapel entrance. Ask for Tony Faddoul who is your host. The group will walk over to The Gael Pub located at 1465 Third Avenue, Between E82nd Street & E83rd Street, New York, NY 10028 for the social.
