Hey! My Manhattanite friend is coming to my place for dinner on Saturday and because she normally doesn't do bridges, she wants to make  a day of it and go watch some football games in a sports bar in Astoria.

Not being a football watcher myself, does anyone know a good place to watch a game? Specifically I think she wants to watch the Nebraska game, so I assume that means it needs to be a place that's uncrowded enough that people wouldn't care if she put on that game or else a bizarre Astorian hamlet for Nebraska fans.

Any thoughts?

Canz on 30th Ave & Steinway is always enjoyable to watch some football on sundays, although ive never been on a saturday.
I'm big on Dillinger's football, but that's for NFL, not sure about College football - either way it's a sports bar with good food and it's not too douchey ('cause that's always important!)
I used to go to Broadway Station pretty regularly for the NFL on Sundays. Friendly staff, lots of TVs and pretty low-key, and at the time they gave buy-backs (can't say if they still do or not). You can usually get a table in back, too and they'll put on whatever you want, as long as they get it. Pretty standard pub fare.

BUDS ALE HOUSE is the place to go. Brand new 60 flat screen tv's, you can see every game from anywhere you sit. They also have the college football package so they show EVERY game. Not to mention the food is delicious and they have 80 beers on draft. Cant beat the $$$$ $2 buds on draft $5 margaritas and on game days coors lt buckets 5 for $12!!!!!
