I researched only electricity, and from what I saw, you really don't save any money. You save on the taxes on the supply charges. But for the rate plans, naturally, fixed rates are higher than the variable rates. I've only been with Con Edison for three months, so I don't know how much the rates fluctuate. Have you thought about the equal payment plan? That may help you lower your monthly bill. But you need to be with Con Edison for a year.

Still looking into it, but it doesn't appear that anyone is saving money...or any more pleased than they are with Con Ed. I found this info on another board:
"You still have to pay most of ConEd's fees because they are still delivering the gas/electric to you. There's no escaping them, unfortunately. I switched to a gas ESCO, but haven't noticed much difference in my bill. That's probably because the gas supply portion was always the lowest amount anyway. "
