Why Leave Astoria?!

So I am really really really done with Time Warner. They cost an arm and a leg, I have no internet and they told me I have to wait two weeks for them to come, and still pay for internet on my bill!!! WTF!!!!!!!!

So I am thinking of switching to RCN. It's cheaper and I know they cover service here in Astoria. It's way cheaper and you get more!!! Does anyone use it? I want to know if it's worth the switch or should I just stick with Time Warner

I used time warner when i lived in manhattan. Have RCN since day one in astoria. unless you go with the super premium channel package, you'll lose a few channels, but will pay quite a bit less. I now have a dvr and a faster connection than i did with TW and pay about 20 dollars less. I must also say that I've never had any signal outages or lost my internet connection with RCN.

bottom line-DO IT

I had some problems with RCN and it isn't exactly cheap (although highly discounted the first year)- but after I complained and threatened to go back to TimeWarner their customer service has been really great and I've had a few current problems which they have come to fix within a few days and credit your bill if it is something they can credit. Also, they have Saturdays and better hours on week days than TW.

Good luck!

I just switched over and am hoping for the best. It is a little cheaper than TW and you get the NFL Network which you will never get on TW. After all the problems I've had with TW I'll gladly leave and never come back.

Def. ask about RCN's bundled 1st year/6month promo rates.. I've had only their internet service since I moved and have been pretty happy with it. They also have a walk in place you can pay your bill right off Northern Blvd. next to the Michaels arts and crafts plaza.

So I can't be happier with RCN so far. The HD quality on HBO is the highest I've seen on cable. NFL, NBA and NHL networks in HD for only 5 bucks extra a month I believe. No more Time Warner!!!!! Never again!!!!!!
